The 2026 Regular Session of the Mississippi Legislature Begins Tuesday, January 6th 2026. Through our discussions with members, 3MA has established a list of goals for the session and we are now prepared to share our draft proposals with our members. Please click each of the following links below to download copies of our bill proposals. In the coming weeks and months, we will also begin to publish “Talking Points” guides for our members when speaking with legislators or elected officials.
The removal of Product Potency Limits will drive production costs related to cannabis concentrates and infused products down, leading to lower costs for patients. Removing Potency Limits would also increase product variability, allowing producers to craft true medicinal products like RSO for chronically ill patients.
Mississippi has one of the highest patient attrition rates of any medical cannabis program in the U.S., with (roughly) 37 patients falling out of the program for every 100 patients added. By extending the validity time of a resident card, we hope to reduce patient attrition and extend access for rural patients.
Tens of thousands of our neighbors in bordering states visit Mississippi every day for work, education and to care for family members. These visitors are often cannabis patients in their home-states, and are here for an extended period of time. Mississippi’s current nonresident card process is costly, cumbersome and leaves patients without access to cannabis if they’re stay in Mississippi extends beyond a few weeks. By amending the process to make it easier to access and less costly, nonresident patients will maintain access to their medicine during their time in Mississippi.
Many Mississippians with chronic or debilitating conditions are still without proper access to the MMCP due to the strict nature of the qualifying list of conditions. After 3 years of program operations, the list of conditions qualifying patients for cannabis has remained the same, despite hundreds of requests from medical experts, industry operators and patients. By statutorily amending the Medical Cannabis Act to include “Right to Try” language, certifying practitioners will gain expanded discretion to treat their patients how they see fit.
These policy changes are vital to the growth and progress of this industry and for the viability of the program for patients. With the help of our members, we are confident that we can achieve these goals in the 2026 Session.
